In all of our services, our mission is to care.

  • We care about the environment.
  • We care about design.
  • We care about your health.
  • We care about quality.
  • We care about human rights.

Renewable Resources
We upholster our Living Home Furniture™ line in organic and biodegradable materials that are completely free of petroleum products and toxic chemicals. These materials are available for our clients for any of our services.

We build inner frames for Living Home Furniture™ from FSC Certified solid alder or poplar. The fine walnut and maple woods we use in crafting the arms and legs of our chairs meet the same strict certification standards. Chain of custody certificates are available by prior arrangement.

Our suppliers consciously choose resources that are good for the environment and are harvested and made using labor practices that do not violate human rights. Certifications include the Institute for Market Ecology (IMO), Control Union World Group(CU), Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) and Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). Please contact us if you would like information about certification or specific ingredients in our furniture.

Healthy fabrics and finishes
We use 100% natural fibers including bamboo, flax, hemp, organic linen, organic cotton, silk and wool. We give you the same choices along with more conventional ones when you order re-upholstered, reclaimed or custom pieces.

We finish exposed wood elements with the highest grade of Pure Tung Oil, a zero-VOC finish which contains no additives or distillates and provides a tough, flexible and highly water-resistant coating. Its deep-penetrating properties serve to enhance and protect the inherent beauty of the wood.

Wood parts are assembled using only non-toxic, water-based wood glue.

Waste Reduction
We salvage and rescue solid furniture pieces, keeping them out of landfills and saving resources by re-using the raw materials.

We make every effort to also reduce the amount of waste that is sent to the landfill from our workshops. Upholstery remnants are used to create custom home accessories, such as accent pillows and one-of-a kind fiber art. Small fabric scraps and sawdust are composted while unusable wood remnants are given away in the local community for burning in woodstoves for home heating.

We like to view natural variations in wood grain and coloration (a result of growth patterns in the trees they are cut from) as an opportunity to create a one-of-a-kind work of art rather than as a deviation from some generic standard. Thus, small flaws are often incorporated as unique elements in the design instead of being thrown away.
